2009 will see the annual LAGIP conference come to Leeds, West Yorkshire, from 6th to 8th March 2009.
This year the conference will focus on best practice in supporting LGBT service users. The events of the conference day will look at how we, as LGBT staff, support the work of the probation service with LGBT service users.
2009 will mark the 25th anniversary of LAGIP's work in supporting the National Probation Service's LGBT community. This will be celebrated with a silver jubilee theme to the conference dinner on the Saturday night.
The conference is open to all members LGB&T staff in Probation and Family Courts. Registration information will be sent out to members soon. If you work in Probation or Family Courts and want to attend the conference, please download an application form.
Pete Allen, GALIPS ex-Chair, has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours.
Pete has been active in LGBT rights in the Prison Service for many years - and played a central role in establishing joint working between GALIPS, LAGIP and the Ministry of Justice Rainbow Network.
Our congratulations go to Pete, as do our thanks for his commitment and hard work supporting LGBT rights in NOMS.
LAGIP is the staff association for Lesbians, Gay Men, Bisexuals and Transgendered People working in Probation and Family Courts.
We work closely with NOMS to ensure LGB&T people are represented at the highest level.
