
LAGIP provides a formal and informal support network to members and other Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered (LGB&T) probation staff.
The objectives of LAGIP are:
- To ensure that LGB&T issues are addressed at national and local levels
- That no LGB&T staff or service users are disadvantaged due to their sexual orientation or gender identity
- To provide an effective formal and informal support network for LGB&T staff
- To increase awareness of LGB&T issues
- To work with NPS/NPD/NOMS to take forward diversity policies and strategies
Strategy
The Strategy for achieving these objectives is:
- To ensure LGB&T representation on national and local groups
- To ensure that:
- All NPD/NPS/NOMS policies and procedures are written and implemented after consultation with LGB&T representatives
- That they take account of LGB&T issues
- And that such policies are observed
- To ensure all LGB&T staff have access to
- An effective formal and informal support network
- Regular local/ regional meetings to exchange views and issues
- Annual conference where issues and experiences can be discussed in greater detail
- To increase involvement of LGB&T issues and awareness as part of training for all NPS/NPD/NOMS staff
- To develop links and work with other Area LGB&T support groups
- To develop links and work with other Criminal Justice System LGB&T groups including Police, Prison, Courts, Legal Profession
