About LAGIP

LAGIP began at the NAPO AGM in Southport in 1982 when a group of Lesbian and Gay staff frustrated by having Gay and Lesbian issues ignored and by being on the receiving end of discrimination and prejudice, met to share concerns. It was originally supported solely by NAPO, work for the group being undertaken by the dedication of a core of members in their own time.

In 2003 LAGIP members voted to establish an elected committee and a constitution - this was ratified by the AGM later that year. LAGIP also agreed to welcome Bisexual and Transgender staff as members.

LAGIP is the support group for lesbian, gay men, bisexuals and transgendered people working in the National Probation Service and Family Courts (CAFCASS). It has been operating for almost 23 years and receives funding from the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).

LAGIP holds an annual conference each year. This conference provides the opportunity to network with other members from around the UK.
